It's a winter tradition watching the Nutcracker. Swan Lake is always one of our favorite.
It is time to hit the roads again. Time to travel back home. We have been at Virginia beach for a week. I believe we will stop by Colonial Williamsburg on our way back. I love that town especially during this season. I have been inspired to putting light up when we return home after visiting Christmas Town at Busch Gardens. Now that Fall has officially arrived we can get out to those Festivals and exercise. Fall Strolling ,I call it. We have all sort of festivals going on ; Renaissance, Oktoberfest, Fall Bazaars, And the Williamsburg village fall changes. Let's not forget those walks through the changes of the leaves. Parks are a great place to start the process. Pack a lunch and go. Take the bikes, skates, boards and just a plain walking stick. Whatever your fancy this is the season for starting that walking routine. With the heat behind us and the cool breezes ahead, our walking will be easy body friendly. Oh I just love that cool breeze, well I'm off to the Oktoberfest. As my Hubby Says "and we're walking".
We have been working on the pool and trying to get it opened. A few years back we purchased a solar heater . Hooking it up is not an easy task. I have decided to look for a new type. Keeping in mind it must be Solar powered. Normally we do not need to heat the pool. With the temp we have been having lately the water should heat up nicely. for now ....Just think of it as an Atlantic Ocean swim. You Know the temp is cold at first then the body gets use to it. I would think that the temp will get to about 80 and maintain that for the summer. However the temp is pretty cold right now, about in the upper 70's. No one wants to get in it. Well off to search for a better Solar solution for the pools heat.

Well this will be a busy day and week. I am off to finish the trimming in the Vintage Sewing Room (VSR), finishing laundry for this weekend trip, and cleaning the house.

I have been watching the Winter Olympics the past few days. Not a fan of the Olympic per-say, however I do like the Winter Olympics. It was the first time watching the Snowboarding competition. How exciting, I was yelling along with hubby and the fans, wanting Seth Wescott to win. What a thrill to see him overtake the leader at the finish line. Winning the Gold Medal for the USA.

Can you believe January is midway through? Less than a month til February 14th, Valentines Day here in the U.S.. There was a question on a Friday post " Are you going to buy valentines gifts and what will they be". Years ago I did this, got gifts. Now for about 5 years I haven't. Going Green has made me rethink this. Maybe a Rain barrel would be nice or a Battery charged Lawn Mower. It would have to be something green to replace an item or be able to use resources wisely. Hubby is very Green conscience, any suggestions outside a Car? (in case hubby is reading,lol)
Headed back to Maryland now. We have been in the south for a few days. Visiting Family, my Grandmother is 92 years old and still going strong. I wonder what her secret is? How has she made it to this age? She loved to dance in her younger years, worked as a waitress in many places and walked a lot. One thing she told me yesterday was she did not cook, her husband does all the cooking. Her pantry is filled will beans, soups and greens. Maybe that's the key, eat more beans and greens. One thing she told me was that at the doctors office the clerks came to her and said you made a mistake on your form. When were you born? Is this right? Yes, she said, that's correct 1917. she just does not look like that age. But, then again what does 92 look like? In this photo, this is what Granny at 92 looks like! A question : What should I get my Dad for Christmas?
When stuff happens it is usually at and most unfortunate time and it raises my Blood Pressure. Here it was the first night of Chanukah, companies coming over. I needed to start the Latkes and get the table ready. When I notice it was awfully cold in the solarium. checking it out it was the Pellet stove! For some reason the stove had decided to stop working. So I tried to fix it, good clothes on and all. No such Luck! Called the repair man from last years repair, the igniter had gone bad. This time it was acting the same way and it hadn't been a year yet! Randy the repairman said he could not come until the 18th, the last night of Chanukah. Is this and omen? Eight crazy nights and no heat in the solarium, I got out the portable electric/oil heater. Yes I said Oil. Let see... eight nights the temple stay lit with the oil.... eight night my solarium will stay heated with oil, a coincidence ?

On the weekend I got to see Critter, my g-nephew. He sang in a bi-lingual church service connected with the school he attends. He was great... 5 years old and he did sing and sign! We play awhile after church and had some food. He lives in the DC area so It was about a one hour drive for us. I do like getting to see the family. We go to the same church, but it is large over 10,000 people, so I do not always get to see them.
Here we are winding down the School break summer fun. We have been vacationing since schools been out. Mini trips and long trips.... Have seen the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, been Midwest Mountains and shopped in the U.S largest Mall..... Now in Virginia Beach, we did manage to get one day in the Atlantic Ocean water and sunning on the beach. Hurricane Bill caused the beach to close at times and when it was open the undertow was bad. A couple weeks ago our town had a 12 year old boy die. He was on Vacation playing in the Ocean, the undertow took him. They have not found his body yet. So I was very concern with the girls. Not so willing to let them play in the ocean while H-Bill was around. We went shopping on the strip and walked the board walk.

What a weekend! We went back to hubby's homestead. Hadn't been there for some time, we figured it must have been 10 year or better. I was so surprise to see how some things changed. There was a new school, some of the house were gone, Walmart was in town!, and we found out the the old school was sold in a auction and is thinking of becoming senior citizens apartments. So many changes.
