Headed out again.-- Yearly Trek!

It is that time again to head down south. This is our yearly trek to Florida. As I mentioned on my AT Home with Auntie E blog, we head there to attend a memorial for my Grandfather and many other Fallen Police Officers. Placing flowers at their names on the Memorial Wall of Fame in Titusville, for they truly are heroes.

This year we have made arrangements to go to Discovery Cove. We are looking forward to that visit. I little down time for us. I am eager to learn more about their Eco-friendly world. I will be on the look out for the type of solar systems they use. As well as if they are as Eco-Friendly as they should be. Being in the deep south I would think they should be more than we can here in the North.

Be on the look out for real time photos and info on my Auntie E's On the Go blog. there I send real time photos.

Sunday's Travels

We are on our way to Niagara Falls Canada. It is a two hour drive from our reunion site. Looking forward to visiting the Hydro Plant as well as seeing the Falls. It has been years since I have been to the falls. I was about eight or nine I think, this will bring back such grand memories for me.
I do not remember visiting the Plant though, so this will be a new one. will be on the look out for some healthy sights to post here.

Vacation Time Coming Up.

August is approaching and that means family reunion and vacation time for us. This year we chose the North East for our Vacation. Our family reunion is in the Erie Area and then it will be a Canadian trip, to see Niagara Falls. After that it is off to the Poconos for some R&R at the Lodge. I will be sharing some details on my At Home blog this next week. Been working on an icon to go with this trip. Had a contest for the name back in May. The name is... Northern Sun Loop, given by Sandy over at Traveling Suitcase.
It will be interesting to learn about the Falls and how the Power of Water is good for the environment.
I read somewhere that the power generated from water is actually better for the planet. The USA is building and using more Hydro-power than ever before. In the past few years we have increased our usage to around 49%( a new 2010 update). We are the fourth leading nation in the usage of Hydroelectricity to date. China being number one, Canada number two and Brazil number three. The total Numbers were reported in April 2010, The United States numbers were 81,636 Thousand Mega watt hours. With Washington State producing the highest amount of 19,001. Hydro-power had been the largest renewable source since 2003 for the US.
Canada's Hydro Plant(Sir Adam Beck) in Niagara Falls area will be one stop for me to see.

Oceans of Summer Fun.

Here we are winding down the School break summer fun. We have been vacationing since schools been out. Mini trips and long trips.... Have seen the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, been Midwest Mountains and shopped in the U.S largest Mall..... Now in Virginia Beach, we did manage to get one day in the Atlantic Ocean water and sunning on the beach. Hurricane Bill caused the beach to close at times and when it was open the undertow was bad. A couple weeks ago our town had a 12 year old boy die. He was on Vacation playing in the Ocean, the undertow took him. They have not found his body yet. So I was very concern with the girls. Not so willing to let them play in the ocean while H-Bill was around. We went shopping on the strip and walked the board walk.

We are heading to Great Wolf Lodge for Loads of Fun!
Did you know GWL has gone Green. Check it out at Project Green Wolf

Walking the Grand Canyon

While in the Grand Canyon we walked up and down hills. This was the most challenging exercise I did. As You can see the Canyon is huge and with an greater elevation (8000 feet/2438 m above sea level), it makes the walking there more of a work out. My heart rate reached it's burn rate faster, and stayed there the longest.

This kind of walking I like, the scenery changes often and if you keep your eyes opened and looking up, the things to see was a once in a life time sight. As to the California Condor in this Photo. You can enlarge it to really see him.
These birds are rare to see in the Wild, only about 172 in the wild, all live in the Grand canyon region.
In all to plan a vacation with some challenging walking was a great choice.
You can Click on all the photos to enlarge them.

Our guide was great. Some of us walked and he had things for the ones who stayed behind. See the Castle in the background, My daughter and I walked up to the top of it, so many steps.
The exercise was well worth it.
In all to plan a vacation with some challenging walking was a great choice.

If you would like to know more about the California Condors visit A RareSighting.

Vacation Weight?

Staying fit on vacation is very hard. I tried to eat the right foods; fish, veggies, fruit and stay away from fast foods, potato chip, fries, baked goods, breads. Balancing the sweets and starches have been a challenge. Tomorrow is weigh-in day and I am a little worried, I think I did gain some weight even though I was careful. So tomorrow will tell. I will be at home with my own scales.
Had a lot of fun on the GoWestMyFriend trip. Tried new things and did a lot of walking. One thing that is hard is the family hinders me, Hubby can not walk due to his back and legs, Daughter is a teen and for some reason thinks like her father, Not wanting to walk. On the other hand I could Just Walk forever!! Even with my bad leg nerve! Anyway I will have to start back on the exercise routine and eating healthier. How do you weather on vacations?

In case your did not know we are going to Colorado, Nevada, Arizona , California and A Mystery State ( no Lexxie I will not blog it now!). My daughter has been trying her hardest to find out where it is, hehehe. I will not tell anyone. My friend suggested Blindfolding her so she will not even see from the plane. In Colorado we will be Water Water Rafting and other Mountain sports. We are spending The Fourth of July in Cripple Creek. They have a Big Old Fashion Celebration complete with Fireworks, One of the largest in Colorado.
Then off to Las Vegas there we will travel around the world on the strip, and plan to see the BlueManGroup!
Next stop Arizona, we will be viewing the Grand Canyon. Booked with two different Tour companies to see the all the sides. We are staying at Legacies Bed and Breakfast. It is owned by A friend of the family. We are looking forward to seeing them again.
Onward to California to see Disneyland and Universal Studio. Fun and Walking. Looking forward to eying Mickey one of my favorite character. Will be on the look out for Movie Stars. I hope to see Johnny Depp (oh, I just love Pirates of the Caribbean). Now I hear he will be The Mad Hatter on Alice in Wonderland ( as my Daughter says...Sweeet).
We will then cool down in our Mystery Place. No I will not say.

Exercising On A Trip.

When on a trip all the walking and eating and running and eating can be the downer for one. Trying to choose a Place that has a Exercise room can also be a challenge. Most paces do have pools, great for water aerobics. Now on our trip the Resort was on Cocoa Beach. That meant Walking was on the List of exercise. I walked on the beach and all around the Resort. There was a Antique Auto Show, will blog about that later this week. I took walks viewing them and taking photos every day. Then there was the walking at the Space Center and Museums, more later on that. Walking is the best exercise one can do. Although there is Two things you must do in order not to gain weight, do not eat while you are walking and drink plenty of Water.
